Ukraine's Women's National Artistic Swimming Team Wins World Cup Stage

The third stage of the World Aquatics Cup has come to an end in the Canadian city of Markham. The women's national team of Ukraine won the artistic swimming competition, Ukrinform reports.
Ukrainian synchronized swimmers have twice climbed to the podium. In particular, Ivanna Burba, Amelia Volynska, Oleksandra Horetska, Maria Zdorovtsova, Alisa Kulyk, Yelyzaveta Lymar, Angelina Ovchynnikova and Valeria Tyshchenko won gold medals in the acrobatic group. Sisters Vladislava and Maryna Aleksiyiv won bronze medals for the free skating programme among duets.
‘It was the debut start for five Ukrainians at the adult competition. Ivanna Burba, Amelia Volynska, Maria Zdorovtsova, Alisa Kulyk and Yelyzaveta Lymar performed at the World Cup for the first time and immediately won gold medals. The last time the Ukrainian national artistic swimming team won in the acrobatic group was on 4 June 2023 at the World Cup Super Final in Oviedo,’ the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine said.
According to the results of the competition, the Aleksiiv sisters made it to the World Cup Super Final, which will be held in Budapest from 5 to 7 July. These swimmers also won Ukraine's only licence for the 2024 Olympics in artistic swimming.
It should be noted that this is not the first success in water sports for Ukraine this year. The Gaze reported that the men's 50-metre freestyle final at the World Aquatics Championships in Qatar in February ended with a sensational victory for Ukrainian swimmer Vladislav Bukhov.
Vladislav Bukhov's achievement is historic for Ukraine, as he also became the first Ukrainian world swimming champion since 2007, when Oleg Lisogor won gold in the 50m breaststroke.
