Ukrainian Cultural Center Opens in Valencia as a New Home for the Community

On September 15, the Ukrainian Cultural Center of the Association of Ukrainians in the Autonomous Region of Valencia “Ukraine” was opened.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to a post by Mykhailo Petrunyak, head of the Federation of Ukrainian Associations in Spain and the Association of Ukrainians in the Autonomous Region of Valencia, on Facebook.
The organization is a member of the Federation of Ukrainian Associations in Spain (FUAS), which, in turn, is part of the World and European Congresses of Ukrainians.
“The premises were obtained last year after more than 20 years of cooperation between the Ukrainian Association ‘Ukraine’ and the FUAS with local authorities,” said Mykhailo Petrunyak.
Together with the association, Ukrainian scouts — Plast España — now also have their home in the center. This is where the new FUAI office will be located.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of local authorities, including Stefan Soriano Gomez, Director General for Diversity, Marta Torrado, Deputy Mayor of Valencia, and Marie Ponte, delegate of the Presidency of the Region of Valencia. Also present were Pablo Gil, Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Valencia, Ukrainian priests, activists, business representatives, and volunteers.
The event was enlivened by performances by the creative groups “Dyvotsvit” and “Ukraina,” the Ukrainian restaurant “Ukrainian House” organized refreshments, and artists Marta Pinchuk and Tetiana Karaban presented an exhibition of their works.
“The authorities highly appreciated the contribution of the Ukrainian association ‘Ukraine’ to many years of cooperation and expressed their wish that the Ukrainian Cultural Center remain here forever, with which everyone present readily agreed,” Petrunyak noted.
On October 3, the first consular reception of Ukrainian citizens by consuls from Barcelona will take place at the Ukrainian Cultural Center.
“The main thing today is unity and helping Ukraine. There should be a lot of Ukrainian life in this center. For the good and our victory!” emphasized the head of the FUAS.
As The Gaze reported earlier, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal began his official visit to Spain with high-level talks with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, focusing on deepening defense cooperation, Ukraine’s post-war recovery, and the country’s EU accession process.
