Ukrainian Diplomacy Triumphs: All Key International Arenas Retained
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy praised the accomplishments of Ukrainian diplomats, emphasizing that over the course of the year, no international platform had been lost to Russia.

On Diplomatic Service Day, Ukrainian president highlighted the achievements of Ukrainian diplomacy and its highly professional level. According to him, the work of Ukrainian diplomats allowed the country to maintain its influence in international organizations and gain support for resolutions and documents that are critical for Ukraine.
"These are not just words. For the first time in its long history, Ukraine has been able to unite the whole world around itself," he said.
This, according to him, was made possible by active coordination with partners at all levels, from the highest political to working contacts in diplomatic missions.
“And we have not surrendered a single international platform to Russia on any of the issues that are critical for Ukraine this year,” the president of Ukraine emphasized.
Zelenskyy stressed the importance of the functioning of Ukraine's diplomatic infrastructure abroad. Embassies and consulates not only provide services to Ukrainian citizens, but also, which is extremely important in times of war, maintain and develop contacts with international partners.
He also noted that there are plans to expand the network of diplomatic missions in order to strengthen international support and ensure that the war ends with a dignified peace for Ukraine.
Ukrainian diplomacy continues to demonstrate remarkable results on the international stage, strengthening partnerships not only across Europe but around the world. Through systematic engagement and strategic initiatives, Ukraine has secured key positions in major global organizations, showcasing the country’s growing influence and credibility.
A clear example of this success is Ukraine’s recent election to the UNESCO Executive Board for 2025–2029 with a record 137 votes. This achievement prevented Russia from securing a seat, marking another diplomatic victory over the aggressor state. Membership on the Board allows Ukraine to influence global policies in education, science, culture, and heritage protection, further amplifying its voice in critical international matters.
At the same time, Russia continues to face setbacks in multilateral forums. For instance, it failed to secure a seat on the governing council of the UN International Maritime Organization, highlighting Moscow’s growing international isolation. These outcomes illustrate how Ukrainian diplomacy combines strategic outreach with effective advocacy, consistently advancing Ukraine’s interests while countering Russian influence on the global stage.
