Ukrainian Drones Hit Russian “Kometa” Antenna Plant Supplying Shaheds, Missiles
Ukrainian long-range drones carried out an overnight strike on the VNIIr-Progress electronics plant in Cheboksary, Chuvash Republic, inflicting damage on one of Russia’s key suppliers of navigation equipment for missiles and unmanned aerial systems, including “Kometa” antennas.
The Gaze reports this, referring to Militarnyi.
Residents described multiple explosions across the city, and the regional governor later confirmed that drones had targeted an industrial site.
The factory lies roughly 1000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border and is part of the ABS Electro production group.
The enterprise builds GNSS receivers and satellite navigation antennas compatible with GLONASS, GPS and Galileo systems, including Kometa modules widely used in Shahed-type loitering munitions, Iskander-M ballistic missiles, Kalibr cruise missiles and UMPK glide bomb kits.
Beyond navigation technology, the facility produces electrical components for the Russian Navy – such as automatic switches, relays and contactless modules, including equipment installed on Yasen-M-class nuclear submarines.
The plant also develops SCADA control systems, programmable electric drives and special radio units for heavy industry, shipbuilding and energy.
This is not the first time the site has been hit. Ukrainian drones previously forced a temporary shutdown in June, and another strike in July 2025 triggered a fire in a production building.
As The Gaze previously reported, oil exports from Russia’s key Black Sea hub of Novorossiysk were temporarily halted after a large-scale Ukrainian missile and drone strike set parts of the port’s oil infrastructure on fire.
