Ukrainian Movie Wins Prestigious Awards at Film Festival in Germany
The Ukrainian film 'U Are the Universe' directed by Pavlo Ostrikov has won awards at the prestigious FilmFestival Cottbus in Germany. This was reported by the Ukrainian State Film Agency.
The movie won the award for Best Director and the Audience Award. The cash prize is €7,500.
The actor Volodymyr Kravchuk, who played the lead role in the film, is a member of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and the film was shot before the start of Russia's full-scale invasion.
‘U Are the Universe' made its world debut in the Discovery programme at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). In 2020, the film became one of the winners of the 14th State Film Agency competition.
‘U Are the Universe' is a sci-fi tragicomedy about a Ukrainian trucker, Andriy, who, after the Earth explodes, is the only survivor in the universe. Without principled decisions and strong support for Ukraine, Russia will have no motive to seek peace, but will only look for new targets,’ Zelensky wrote on the X network.
Recently, the film's star, Volodymyr Kravchuk, received an award for Best Actor at the 65th Thessaloniki International Film Festival in Greece.
