Ukrainian Port Aims to Become Key Hub for Chinese Cargo

The Ukrainian Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi seaport has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Batumi International Container Terminals LLC, seeking to become an important transit hub for the transportation of Chinese cargo in the region.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to the Center for Transportation Strategies.
The Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi seaport has signed its second memorandum of cooperation as part of the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), also known as the “Middle Corridor,” according to Oksana Kiktenko, director of the state-owned enterprise.
The partner is Batumi International Container Terminals LLC, which operates container, ferry, and general terminals in the port of Batumi, Georgia.
According to the information, the terminals of the Ukrainian and Georgian ports will be connected by a new ferry route and a modern car-rail ferry complex, which is currently being designed by the new owner of the Ukrainian port, taking into account all the requirements for cargo handling in the “Middle Corridor.”
The main goal of the memorandum is to attract significant cargo traffic through the Middle Corridor by expanding cargo handling and transshipment capabilities. According to Kiktenko, the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi port aims to become the largest hub on the European route, which opens up new prospects for Ukraine's integration into global logistics chains and increases the country's role in the transit of cargo from China and Asia to Europe.
As The Gaze informed earlier, Ukraine has evacuated 65 of its nationals trapped in the buffer zone at the Russian-Georgian border, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced on August 22.
