US Secretary of State Blinken and UK Foreign Secretary Lammy to Arrive in Ukraine Today
On 11 September, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and British Foreign Secretary David Lammy will arrive in Ukraine for a visit.
This is reported on the website of the US State Department.
During their stay in Ukraine, Blinken and Lemmy will meet with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and senior Ukrainian government officials to discuss continued support for Ukraine's defence against Russian aggression and ways to ensure Ukraine's prosperity ‘militarily, economically, and democratically over the long term’.
According to Axios journalist Juligrace Brufke, citing the words of US House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul, during his visit to Kyiv on 11 September, Blinken will inform Ukrainians about Washington's permission to strike deep into Russia with US long-range ATACMS missiles.
‘I spoke to Blinken two days ago, and he's going with his counterpart from the UK to Kyiv to essentially tell them that they will allow (strikes on Russia with ATACMS),’ McCaul was quoted as saying by WBNE.
The next day, 12 September, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will travel to Poland to meet with senior Polish government officials. During the meetings, he will discuss a number of important bilateral issues, including deepening US defence and energy cooperation with Poland, as well as the countries' work as NATO allies to support Ukraine's defence, the State Department said.
Earlier, the White House said that during his visit to Kyiv, Blinken plans to review the situation on the battlefield and discuss Ukraine's needs and the promotion of President Zelenskyy's peace proposals.
