The United States is preparing to provide Ukraine with intelligence support for long-range missile strikes against Russia’s energy sector.

The Gaze reports this, referring to The Wall Street Journal, citing U.S. officials.

According to the media, President Donald Trump recently authorized U.S. intelligence agencies and the Pentagon to help Kyiv identify and target critical Russian facilities.

Officials said the decision marks the first time his administration has formally backed Ukrainian strikes against energy infrastructure deep inside Russian territory.

While the U.S. has long shared battlefield intelligence with Ukraine, the expanded cooperation is expected to significantly improve Kyiv’s ability to hit oil refineries, pipelines, power plants, and other strategic facilities.

The goal, officials said, is to reduce the Kremlin’s oil revenues and weaken Moscow’s capacity to finance its war.

Washington is also pressing NATO allies to provide similar assistance, the paper said. U.S. officials are additionally weighing potential deliveries of long-range missiles, including Tomahawks and Barracudas, with ranges of up to 800 kilometers.

No final decision has been made on supplying such weapons, and the Pentagon is awaiting further instructions from the White House.

“Intelligence combined with more powerful weaponry could inflict far greater damage than Ukraine’s previous strikes,” one U.S. official was quoted as saying.

The move comes after Trump’s special envoy, Keith Kellogg, told Fox News earlier this week that the president had sanctioned long-range strikes on Russian territory. Vice President J.D. Vance confirmed discussions were ongoing over supplying Tomahawks, though he stressed no decision had been finalized.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has repeatedly urged the United States and its allies to back Ukraine’s right to respond to Russian attacks on its energy system. Last week he warned that if Moscow seeks to plunge Kyiv into darkness, “it must understand it will face blackouts in Moscow as well.”

The Kremlin has described U.S. statements on supporting Ukrainian long-range strikes as “very serious,” without specifying how Russia might respond.

As The Gaze informed earlier, the Ukrainian President spoke at the UN General Assembly general debate and emphasized the need to build a new global security system due to the threat of Russia expanding the war.
