Zelenskyy Expected in London on Monday for Talks With Starmer, Macron and Merz
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is preparing to travel to London on Monday, December 8, for a high-level meeting with the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, and Germany.
The Gaze reports this, referring to The Independent and RBC-Ukraine.
Zelenskyy confirmed that the trip is likely to take place, pending final consultations with the Ukrainian delegation currently negotiating in the United States.
“I will probably go to London. Most likely, the meeting could be on Monday,” Zelenskyy said, adding that he is awaiting a detailed briefing from National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, who is leading talks with American officials.
According to The Independent, the London meeting will bring together British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
The leaders are expected to review the latest stage of U.S.–Ukraine negotiations regarding Washington’s draft peace plan – a document originally consisting of 28 points, now undergoing substantial revisions after concerns that early versions favored Moscow’s positions.
The discussions are aimed at outlining potential frameworks for Ukraine’s post-war security architecture. Sources familiar with the ongoing talks say the plan has been reorganized into four thematic “tracks,” covering issues ranging from Ukrainian sovereignty and military capabilities to broader European security questions and post-war economic arrangements.
Zelenskyy stressed that the next steps depend heavily on the outcome of the U.S.–Ukraine consultations and on whether Russia is prepared to demonstrate genuine commitment to de-escalation.
Starmer, meanwhile, is expected to use the London meeting to underscore the UK’s continued support for Ukraine at a pivotal moment in the diplomatic process.
The visit comes amid a busy phase of shuttle diplomacy involving Washington, Kyiv, and Moscow. Earlier this week, U.S. representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner traveled to Moscow for talks with Vladimir Putin, after which the Kremlin announced it had rejected parts of the American proposal.
Following the latest round of negotiations, Umerov reported that Ukraine and the United States had reached preliminary alignment on several security-related provisions, though some of the most sensitive issues remain unresolved.
Zelenskyy is expected to deliver Ukraine’s position and updated assessments during the London talks as Western leaders seek a coordinated approach to shaping a viable path toward ending the war.
As The Gaze reported earlier, Russia and the U.S. failed to reach a compromise on a possible peace plan for Ukraine after a five-hour, late-night meeting in the Kremlin between President Vladimir Putin and two U.S. President Donald Trump’s top envoys.
