Zelenskyy Says He Will Meet Trump Soon, Hints at Decisions Before Year’s End
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that preparations are underway for a high-level meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump.
The Gaze informs about it, referring to Zelenskyy's post on social media.
The Ukrainian President wrote that Ukraine’s diplomatic engagement with the Trump team is accelerating and that Kyiv is intent on maintaining momentum in talks with Washington.
“We are not losing a single day. We have agreed on a meeting at the highest level – with President Trump – in the near future. A great deal could be decided before the New Year,” he said.
The announcement follows a series of intensive contacts between Ukrainian officials and Trump’s representatives. Zelenskyy confirmed that Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov recently briefed him on fresh discussions with the American side.
Those engagements include a Christmas-day call between Zelenskyy and Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, as well as senior adviser Jared Kushner. According to the Ukrainian president, the talks focused on concrete ideas and draft proposals aimed at achieving a sustainable end to the war.
“There are ideas that could work toward a shared outcome and a lasting peace,” Zelenskyy said, stressing that Ukraine is seeking solutions that are “realistic, effective, and reliable.”
Ukrainian officials say the planned Zelenskyy–Trump meeting is expected to consolidate these preliminary discussions and could shape the next phase of U.S.–Ukrainian coordination on security guarantees, diplomacy, and post-war recovery.
While no exact date has been announced, Zelenskyy’s remarks underscore Kyiv’s expectation that the forthcoming face-to-face talks with Trump may prove decisive.
