Zelenskyy Warns Russian “Oreshnik” Missiles in Belarus Threaten All of Europe
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the deployment of the Russian Oreshnik missile system in Belarus poses a serious threat not only to Ukraine but also to the whole of Europe, especially to countries in the eastern and Baltic parts of the continent.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to a press conference of the Ukrainian President following the meeting on sanctions.
During a public meeting, Zelenskyy emphasized that the Russian Oreshnik missile system creates new risks for European security.
"We see the maps. The Russians want to deploy Oreshnik in Belarus. We understand that the approximate range of this weapon is 5,000 kilometers. And there is a dead zone of 700 kilometers," said the President of Ukraine.
He also added that Europeans need to pay special attention to these risks. “It is important that we have this information and we pass it on to our colleagues, and it is very important that everyone supports us,” Zelenskyy added.
The president recalled that Russia previously had three such missiles: one was used against Dnipro in November 2024, another was destroyed by Ukrainian special services, and the third, according to intelligence reports, may remain in service.
In addition, according to Zelenskyy, Russia can produce up to six such missiles per year.
The President also said that Ukraine plans to provide its international partners with information about 25 Russian companies involved in the development of Oreshnik that are not yet under sanctions.
