Zelenskyy’s Denmark Trip Delivers New Security and Military Commitments

On September 3, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Denmark for a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and talks with Nordic-Baltic leaders.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to Ukrinform.
During his visit to Denmark, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed active work on a system of security guarantees for Ukraine with the support of international partners.
Such guarantees will be based on bilateral agreements with partner states, as well as mechanisms within the Coalition of the Willing.
"Regarding security guarantees. We are already working within the Coalition of the Willing and bilaterally with partners on specific security guarantees. We already have a strong foundation in the form of bilateral agreements, in particular with Denmark,“ the President said.
Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine's future security must include guarantees similar to those in Article 5 and noted that the parties will now determine ”who will do what on land, in the air, at sea, and in cyberspace."
At the same time, following the Nordic-Baltic meeting, which was attended by the leaders of the countries of Northern and Baltic Europe and Ukraine, a joint statement was issued. They emphasized their unwavering support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, condemned Russia's aggression, and confirmed their readiness to speed up the supply of weapons, ammunition, and air defense systems.
The leaders of the Nordic and Baltic countries stress that Russia is not showing any willingness to make peace, continuing to delay a ceasefire.
“Putin does not want peace. We have clearly seen that in the past weeks. And we have seen it many times before. Ukraine is ready to negotiate. It is ready to enter into an unconditional and full ceasefire. Russia has so far not committed to a ceasefire or any steps leading to it,” the statement follows.
In particular, the leaders emphasize the need to strengthen military support for Ukraine, including accelerating the delivery of weapons, ammunition, and air defense systems.
“In this regard, we support a newly created PURL initiative to finance high-priority American weapons for Ukraine. No limitations should be placed on Ukraine's armed forces or on its cooperation with other countries,” the message specifies.
In the context of ending the war, the leaders seek to develop a system of sustainable security guarantees in close cooperation with the US and European partners, and support Ukraine's integration into the Euro-Atlantic community.
Finally, they called for decisive collective action, including strengthening sanctions against Russia, to demonstrate the high cost of aggression and strengthen the system of long-term security guarantees for Ukraine.
As The Gaze informed earlier, Ukraine and Denmark are set to deepen their defense cooperation with a major new project under President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Build with Ukraine initiative.
