After Mass Fan Brawl in Amsterdam, Paris Steps Up Security at Israel-France Football Match
French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau has promised to ensure the safety of Israeli football fans at the match between the national teams of France and Israel to be held in Paris. Le Monde writes about it.
‘Some are calling for the France-Israel match to be postponed. I do not accept this: France will not back down because it would be tantamount to surrendering to the threat of violence and anti-Semitism. At my request, the police prefect of Nunez Laurent is taking the necessary security measures to ensure that this match takes place at the Stade de France, as usual,’ Retailleau wrote on the X network.
As you know, the match will also be attended by French President Emmanuel Macron.
According to Retaillot, ‘exceptional measures’ will be taken to protect the match, and Israeli fans will be completely safe. ‘I invite them to come to the game,’ the minister said.
He also spoke in detail about the security measures at the stadium and the surrounding area: shops will be closed from 15:45, the police will have a double security perimeter: the first one for searches, the second one for officers to check IDs and tickets, as well as the system in the back of the stadium.
On 14 November, a football match between the French and Israeli national teams will take place in Paris, with 4,000 police officers and 1,600 stadium staff expected to be deployed to ensure security.
On the evening of 7 November, riots broke out in Amsterdam after the match between local Ajax and Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv, during which pro-Palestinian activists attacked Israeli fans. As a result, five victims were so seriously injured that they had to be taken to hospital for treatment. In addition, 20 to 30 Israeli fans were lightly injured.
