Carnegie Hall to Host Charity Concert for Ukrainian Children and Youth
In October, a charity concert for children and youth of Ukraine will be held at the leading concert hall in New York, Carnegie Hall.
This is reported by the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications, Ukrinform reports.
‘On 23 October, at 19:00, a charity concert for children and youth of Ukraine will be held at Carnegie Hall under the direction of Christoph Eschenbach. Artists from more than ten countries, musicians from the St Luke's Orchestra, the famous violinist Anna-Sophie Mutter, and the Ukrainian choir Dumka from New York will also take part,’ the statement reads.
The programme includes music by Ukraine's most famous composer Valentyn Silvestrov, Symphony No. 9 by Ludwig van Beethoven with soloists: soprano Olga Kulchynska, mezzo-soprano Emily D'Angelo, tenor Matthew Polenzani and bass-baritone Vladyslav Buyalsky, as well as the New York Oratorical Society under the direction of Kent Tritt.
The event is organised with the support of the Mission of Ukraine to the United Nations and the American diplomatic missions of the participating countries. The proceeds will be donated to Direct Relief, an organisation that provides medical supplies to war-affected people.
Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations Sergiy Kyslytsya stressed that the concert is ‘a powerful symbol of resilience, hope and indomitable spirit of the Ukrainian people’.
‘We are deeply grateful to our friends and partners who stand by us in these difficult times. Your support is a source of strength and inspiration, and with this concert we express our gratitude. Together, we celebrate our friendship and share our unwavering commitment to a future of peace and harmony,’ said Kyslytsia.
