Celebrity Couple Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck Legally Settle Divorce: None of Them to Pay Alimony
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez have completed the divorce process and their marriage will officially end in a month and a half, TMZ reports.
Under the terms of the agreement, each keeps what they acquired during the marriage. The money earned by Ben from his numerous film projects remains his, as well as J Lo's income for the two years of their marriage. Neither of them will pay alimony to the other.
Most notably, Affleck will retain his stake in the highly successful production company Artists Equity, which he co-founded in 2022 with Matt Damon.
As for Lopez, she will retain the rights to her main projects.
The couple also reached an agreement on the $61 million home they purchased. The terms of the deal remain confidential. The house is currently up for sale, but there are no buyers yet.
Previously, Ben and J Lo did not sign a prenuptial agreement. Normally, this would mean that everything acquired during the marriage would be divided in half. However, the settlement, which was negotiated by lawyer Laura Wasser, effectively acts as a prenuptial agreement.
As part of the agreement, it was also confirmed that J Lo will drop her Affleck surname and return to her Jennifer Lynn Lopez name.
J Lo filed for divorce in August. Only five months later, the parties managed to reach an agreement.
The divorce will be officially finalised on 20 February, exactly six months after Jennifer Lopez initiated the process.
