Charles Leclerc Becomes First Monegasque Since 1931 to Win Home Monaco Grand Prix

On Sunday, 26th May, Monégasque driver Charles Leclerc claimed victory at the home Grand Prix of Monaco in Formula 1. This triumph makes him the first Monégasque since 1931 to win on his home track and the first to do so in the era of Formula 1 racing, as reported on the official website of the competition.
The Monaco Grand Prix is held on the narrow streets of this small city-state. The circuit is notoriously difficult for overtaking, making a successful Saturday qualifying session crucial for overall success in the race. Charles Leclerc secured pole position in the qualifying session, allowing him to start the race from the front of the grid on Sunday. Leclerc fully capitalised on this advantage, confidently leading the race from start to finish and keeping McLaren's Oscar Piastri, who finished second, at bay. Leclerc's Ferrari teammate, Spaniard Carlos Sainz, took third place.
It is worth noting that this victory is Charles Leclerc's first since the Austrian Grand Prix in 2022, ending his winless streak of 39 races and marking his sixth career win in Formula 1. Additionally, he had never previously finished on the podium in Monaco, either in Formula 1 or in the junior class of Formula 2.
The Monaco Grand Prix is a jewel and a living classic of Formula 1. The race runs through the picturesque streets of Monaco, with views of the sea filled with yachts. The event attracts numerous celebrities and aristocrats from around the world, and the winner is honoured personally by the head of state, Prince Albert II. All these elements create a unique and unforgettable atmosphere for this event, making a victory at the Monaco Grand Prix one of the most prestigious achievements in Formula 1.
