The German Football Association (DFB) has announced that American sportswear manufacturer Nike will become the official supplier of the German national team's uniforms from 2027. This is reported by the German Football Association.
The DFB's partnership agreement with Nike will run until 31 December 2034. For the next two and a half years, DFB will work with its current partner Adidas, whose contract runs until December 2026.
"The future partnership will enable the DFB to work on key tasks for the development of football in Germany over the next decade. "Until December 2026, we will work hard for the joint success of our long-standing and current partner Adidas, to whom German football should be very grateful for more than seven decades," said DFB President Bernd Neuendorf.
It should be noted that the German national team and Adidas have been cooperating since 1954. According to media reports, Nike will pay the DFB more than €100 million a year - twice as much as it currently receives from Adidas.
As The Gaze previously reported, the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced that Russian and Belarusian athletes would not participate in the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, scheduled for 26 July. The decision on the closing ceremony will be made later.
Against the backdrop of the Russian occupation war, which has been going on in Ukraine since 24 February 2022, the IOC had previously announced that Russian and Belarusian athletes would be able to participate in this year's Games in Paris only as individual neutral athletes.
To do so, they must meet the qualification requirements. Teams of Russian and Belarusian athletes will not be considered, and athletes who actively support the war against Ukraine will not be allowed to participate.
AINs are individual athletes with a Russian or Belarusian passport who meet the requirements for participation in the Games. The Executive Board also approved the flag and anthem for the AIN. The anthem has no lyrics.
Medals won by an AIN athlete will not be displayed in the medal table of the National Olympic Committee. If an AIN athlete wins a medal, the AIN flag will be displayed during the victory ceremony and the AIN anthem will be played.
