Germany Sends New Military Aid Package to Ukraine Amid Continued Support

Germany has delivered a new package of military assistance to Ukraine, reaffirming its strong and ongoing commitment to Kyiv’s defense against Russian aggression. The announcement came on the day Chancellor Friedrich Merz's new government officially took office, signaling continuity in Germany’s security policy.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to Der Bundeskanzler.
The aid package includes a wide range of equipment crucial for Ukraine’s battlefield needs.
Germany is also bolstering Ukraine’s air and ground firepower with:
-
IRIS-T SLM air defense missiles,
-
Leopard 2 tank munitions,
-
Nearly 40,000 rounds for GEPARD air-defense systems,
-
27,000 155mm artillery shells and 1,000 rounds of 122mm caliber.
Germany also provided Zuzana-2 howitzers, mine-resistant vehicles, and a large number of surveillance and combat drones. Additional support features mine-clearing machinery, ground-based radar systems, anti-tank weapons, and essential supplies for frontline soldiers, including medical kits and sleeping bags.
This new aid package reflects Germany’s ongoing strategic commitment, with Berlin planning to allocate close to €8 billion in military assistance to Ukraine throughout 2025, matching the scale of last year’s support.
Chancellor Merz has expressed intentions to visit Ukraine in the near future, a move that would underscore Germany’s diplomatic and security engagement at a crucial moment in the war.
