Iceland Opens Honorary Consulate in Western Ukraine

An honorary consulate of Iceland has opened in the city of Lviv in western Ukraine. Its work will cover the Lviv, Volyn, Ternopil, and Rivne regions.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to a post by the head of the Lviv region, Maksym Kozytskyi, on social media.
He referred to a statement by the Icelandic ambassador to Ukraine, Fridrik Jonsson, and the newly appointed honorary consul of Iceland in Lviv, Andrii Deshchytsia.
"Lviv is becoming the center of Icelandic-Ukrainian partnership in western Ukraine. This involves joint projects, particularly in the areas of reconstruction, education, culture, innovation, and medicine,” said the head of the regional administration.
In May, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appointed Nariman Dzhelial, deputy chairman of the Crimean Tatar People's Mejlis, as Ukraine's ambassador to Turkey.
And in January, the Albanian embassy officially opened in Kyiv.
As The Gaze reported earlier, Julie Davis began to assume the role of Acting U.S. Ambassador in Kyiv starting since May 5. She represents the United States on behalf of President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
