Kharkiv, Chernihiv, and Odesa Suffer Deadly Russian Strikes, Civilians Among the Victims

In the early hours of June 5, 2025, Russian forces launched a series of attacks on Ukraine's eastern and southern regions, resulting in civilian casualties and widespread destruction.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko’s post on social media.
In Kharkiv, 17 people were injured in the Sobiid district, including a pregnant woman, four children, and a 93-year-old woman. Russian drones targeted residential areas, causing significant damage to apartment building facades, shattering windows, and damaging apartments.
One of the blasts even resulted in debris penetrating the walls of a residential unit, narrowly missing the family inside. Kharkiv's Mayor Igor Terekhov described the attacks as deliberate acts of terror aimed at civilian infrastructure rather than military targets.
Meanwhile, in the Chernihiv region, a Russian drone strike on the night of June 5 left five people dead, including a one-year-old child.
Six others were injured in the attack, which also caused extensive damage to residential buildings, sparking fires. Emergency services worked swiftly to contain the fires, which destroyed two homes, two garages, and an agricultural building.
In the southern Odesa region, Russian forces used drones to attack civilian infrastructure, including a medical facility, a children's center, and a school.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported, although significant fires broke out following the strikes, which were promptly extinguished by local fire teams.
The ongoing assaults across Kharkiv, Chernihiv, and Odesa reflect Russia's continued aggression against Ukraine's civilian population, with devastating consequences for residents, emphasizing the brutal nature of the Russian war against Ukraine.
As The Gaze reported earlier, on June 3, Russian troops struck the central part of the city of Sumy in eastern Ukraine. Three people were killed and more than 20 wounded
