Lithuania to Join Finland-Led Coalition for Ukraine Shelter Network

Lithuania has officially announced its intention to join Finland's initiative to develop a network of shelters in Ukraine.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to European Pravda, citing LRT.
In May, Ukraine and Finland launched an international coalition to strengthen civil defense, with the aim of expanding the network of shelters in the country.
This initiative involves the construction of new shelters, the exchange of experience between states, and the development of mechanisms for financing their equipment.
The Gaze previously informed that the coalition aims to coordinate global efforts to construct thousands of modern bomb shelters and civil defense facilities, with plans to build 2,300 shelters by 2027 and an additional 3,000 by 2030.
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda expressed his support for this initiative and confirmed Lithuania's readiness to join the coalition.
“Lithuania welcomes and fully supports Finland's initiative to lead the coalition to create shelters for Ukraine. We are ready to join it,” Nausėda said.
In addition, he called on Finland to consider participating in the Lithuanian program to build new schools in Ukraine, demonstrating the desire of both countries for broader cooperation in the humanitarian and infrastructure spheres.
As The Gaze wrote earlier, with the help of international donors, Ukraine has launched an underground school in the village of Molodizhne, Odesa region, offering both shelter and uninterrupted education to students amid continued Russian attacks.
