Lithuanian Foreign Minister Arrives in Kyiv Amid Russian Missile Barrage

Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Kęstutis Budrys arrived in Kyiv on Monday for an official visit, traveling overnight by train during a massive Russian missile and drone attack that struck multiple Ukrainian cities, The Gaze reports.
“Today I am in Kyiv — a city scarred by war but unshaken in spirit,” Budrys wrote on social media upon arrival. “Our train had to pass through the shower of missiles and drones striking the cities of Rivne and Dubne.”
Budrys condemned the intensified Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure, including homes, hospitals, and public services, calling them “deliberate acts of terror” aimed at breaking Ukraine’s spirit. He also recalled a recent deadly strike on Kharkiv that killed and injured dozens, including children.
“These are not accidents… Peace will not come through appeasement,” he emphasized. “Ukraine stands firm, defending not just its territory, but the principles of freedom and democracy in Europe. In fact, Ukraine is defending Europe.”
The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Budrys will meet with top Ukrainian officials, including Andriy Sybiha, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine; Olha Stefanishyna, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and Minister of Justice; Herman Smetanin, Minister for Strategic Industries; Oleksandr Lytvynenko, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.
This marks Budrys’ third visit to Ukraine since assuming office. His previous trip took place on April 1, 2025.
Budrys reiterated Lithuania’s unwavering support for Ukraine, urging the international community to remain united in providing military, economic, and political assistance.
As The Gaze previously reported, Lithuania has delivered an official protest note to a representative of the Russian Embassy in Vilnius, condemning Russia’s intensified war against Ukraine, particularly the killing of civilians and prisoners of war.
