Lithuanian President Urges More Sanctions on Russia After Deadly Kryvyi Rih Strike

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda has called for increased sanctions against Russia following a missile attack on Kryvyi Rih in Eastern Ukraine, The Gaze reports, citing LRT. The strike killed at least 24 people, including nine children.
The president made his remarks after signing the book of condolences at the Ukrainian Embassy in Vilnius.
“Despite the efforts of the president of the United States of America, war crimes continue on the territory of Ukraine, and it is particularly painful to see innocent children suffer and their lives cut short by the brutal hand of the aggressor when they had their whole lives ahead of them,” Nausėda said.
“The international community will continue to put every effort to hold Russia accountable for what it has done in Ukraine, so that the pressure on Russia is not weakened, but, on the contrary, that we continue to tighten that belt around the Russian economy,” he added, emphasizing that the European Union shares this stance.
Nausėda also stressed that while a ceasefire in Ukraine is necessary, it must respect Ukraine’s demands and principles. “This is our position and we will continue to represent it consistently,” he said, reaffirming Lithuania’s support for Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.
As The Gaze previously reported, on Friday evening, Russian forces fired a missile at the city of Kryvyi Rih in eastern Ukraine. The ambassadors of the European Union, the United States, and the United Kingdom have reacted with sadness and outrage to the Russian attack on the Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih.
The Strike on Kryvyi Rih was recognized as the Deadliest for Children in Three Years of Ukraine War by the UN representatives.
