Moldova to Buy Two Modern Systems for Detecting and Destroying Drones, Details of the Deal Are Classified
Moldova is in the process of acquiring two modern systems for identifying and destroying drones, TV8 reports, citing a statement by the country's Defence Minister Anatolie Nosatîi.
He didn't reveal the details of how much they will cost, who the suppliers are, and when they will arrive in the country.
‘We are talking about two systems. A surveillance system and a strike system. The system is quite complex and starts with artillery guns, machine guns and various types of missiles, it is multifunctional and requires serious investment,’ Nosatîi said.
According to him, the contract has already been signed, and the procurement and delivery process is underway.
Moldova currently has 20 radar systems manufactured in the 1960s that cannot detect modern drones.
The country's Ministry of Defence says it needs a total of about six radars.
On 10 November, two drones were spotted in Moldova. Later Moldovan law enforcement officers found a third drone, and on 19 November, another drone was discovered in the north of Chisinau.
Also, Moldovan Foreign Minister Mihai Popschiu said that Russian missiles and drones violated the country's airspace on the morning of 17 November. At that time, Russia launched a massive combined attack on the regions of Ukraine.
