The Netherlands has unveiled a new military aid package for Ukraine worth approximately €175 million, which includes the donation of 100 additional drone detection radars.

The announcement was made today by Dutch Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans ahead of the NATO Summit Defence Industry Forum in The Hague, The Gaze reports.

The 100 radar systems are designed to detect hostile drones and relay critical information to air defense systems capable of neutralizing aerial threats. The Netherlands aims to complete the delivery of these radars before the end of 2025.

In addition to the radars, the aid package includes 20 Ermine CASEVAC vehicles — partially unmanned modular systems that will assist in evacuating wounded personnel from the front lines.

Furthermore, an additional €80 million will be allocated to drone-related support through the international drone coalition, adding to the €20 million previously committed.

This new package complements an earlier €400 million commitment to maritime security and follows the signing of contracts with the Ukrainian drone industry for the production of 600,000 drones, totaling €500 million.

These efforts form part of the “Drone Line Initiative,” which aims to bolster Ukraine’s frontline defense and hinder Russia’s ability to advance.

“Russia’s relentless airstrikes show us daily that air defense is a matter of life and death for Ukraine,” said Minister Brekelmans.

“These drone detection radars are crucial. Signing large-scale production contracts with Ukraine’s drone industry and expanding our support by another €80 million mark a significant shift — drones and unmanned systems have become a central pillar of our assistance to Ukraine.”

The minister praised the resilience of the Ukrainian people and reiterated the Netherlands’ unwavering support. “For three and a half years, Ukraine’s brave soldiers and steadfast civilians have resisted Russian aggression. We deeply respect their courage.

Strengthening our own armed forces and helping Ukraine are the best ways to stop Russia’s brutal expansionism. We remain resolute in our support.”
