On the night of 10 March, the 96th Academy Awards will take place in Los Angeles, where the winners of the 2023 edition of the main event in the global film industry will be announced.
The ceremony will be available online in more than 200 countries.
In the US, the ceremony starts at 4pm local time on Sunday, 10 March. European time will be the night of 10-11 March.
In 2024, American comedian Jimmy Kimmel will host the Oscars for the fourth time. He also hosted the awards in 2017, 2018 and 2023.
Actress Molly McNearney will once again serve as executive producer of the Oscars for the second year in a row.
"We are thrilled to have Jimmy and Molly return to the Oscars," said Bill Kramer, the Academy's CEO and President. "They share our love of film and our commitment to creating dynamic entertainment for our global audience. We are deeply grateful to Jimmy, Molly and their teams for their incredible creativity and partnership, and for taking this journey with us once again."
This year, a number of celebrities will be holding the precious envelope and announcing the winners, including Al Pacino, Zendaya, Steven Spielberg and many more big names.
All five of the original songs nominated for this year's Oscars will be performed on stage at the Dolby Theatre at the 96th Academy Awards. They will be performed by John Baptiste, Becky G, Billy Eilish and Finneas O'Connell, Scott George and the Osage Singers, as well as Ryan Gosling and Mark Ronson.
The Oscar 2024 nominees were announced on 23 January.
In addition to the historic nomination for 20 Days in Mariupol and Oppenheimer and Les Miserables, which have the largest number of nominations - 13 and 11 respectively - there were also some so-called Oscar snubs. For example, Greta Gerwig did not receive a nomination for directing Barbie, and actress Greta Lee, whose performance in Past Lives won her a number of awards and recognition, was also left out of the Best Actress category.
However, the Oscars 2024 has gathered extremely strong contenders, so we can expect some surprises from the ceremony.
In the Best Picture category, most influential film experts agree that Oppenheimer will win.
The Best Director statuette is predicted to go to Christopher Nolan, while Cillian Murphy is favoured in the Best Actor category.
The Ukrainian film 20 Days in Mariupol has high chances of winning the Oscar in the Best Documentary category, which would be a historic event for Ukraine. One of the film's main advantages is that it premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, where it won one of the awards.
