At the UN Future Summit on 23 September, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is currently preparing for the second Peace Summit together with its partners.

He said this in his speech from the rostrum of the General Assembly.

‘The world needs a peaceful future and stable development. We are now preparing for the second Peace Summit, moving forward with our partners step by step, in line with the Peace Formula.

And we are working on food and energy security, holding Russia accountable for its terror. Then we will consider all the other points of the Peace Formula, including the release of prisoners, the restoration of territorial integrity, etc.

And we are preparing a document to be presented at the second Peace Summit. I invite all leaders and nations to continue to support our joint efforts for a just and peaceful future! Putin has already stolen a lot, but he will never be able to steal the future of the world. I am confident,’ the President of Ukraine said.

On 22 September, the UN General Assembly adopted the Future Pact in New York, despite Russia's attempts to disrupt its adoption.

The document contains a list of countries' intentions to address global issues ranging from military conflicts and climate change to artificial intelligence and reform of the UN and global institutions.

The Pact also contains sections on Sustainable Development and Financing for Development, International Peace and Security, Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Cooperation, and Youth and Future Generations.

In particular, the section on peace and security states: ‘The scourge of war is taking on new and more dangerous forms. Today we are closer to nuclear confrontation than at any time since the end of the Cold War’.
