Prince Harry Concludes Sudden UK Visit: Meets with King Charles but Misses Prince William
Prince Harry's surprise 24-hour visit to the UK was brought to a quick end. The Duke of Sussex returned to Heathrow the day before, just 24 hours after his transatlantic trip, to see his father, King Charles III, in London after the monarch was diagnosed with cancer, the Daily Mail reports.
Royal experts immediately joined the discussion of this visit. In their opinion, Prince Harry caused "anxiety" for the family with his uninvited trip, during which "it became apparent how deep the royal rift had actually become."
"The nature of his trip, during which he shared a brief 45-minute meeting with the King and Camilla and is said not to have seen his brother William and sister-in-law Kate Middleton, shows just how bad things really have become," said royal expert Jenny Bond.
Meanwhile, expert Robert Jobson said that while Charles may have been touched by his "any boy" gesture, he actually caused "some concern by choosing to fly over uninvited".
Ashley Hansen, a spokeswoman for Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, declined to comment on the relationship between the brothers or Harry's trip to London.
However, the relationship between the brothers has long been closely followed by the entire British press, following their shared grief over the death of their mother, Princess Diana.
This attention intensified after Harry and Meghan moved from London to California in 2020. The brothers did not sit in the same row during their father's coronation in May. This happened a few months after Harry published his memoirs, which told about anecdotes and the family's rich private life.
Harry also spoke frankly about his relationship with his brother in a documentary that detailed the couple's life from the moment they started dating until he stepped down from royal duties. In the documentary, Harry also suggested that William's press office had been spreading negative stories about Meghan, which contributed to the rift between the siblings.
