Russian Overnight Strikes Knock Out Power Across Kyiv, Leave 12 Injured

Russia unleashed a massive overnight barrage on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, plunging parts of Kyiv into darkness and disrupting water supplies.
The Gaze reports this, referring to statements made by Ukrainian officials.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said twelve people were injured in the capital, eight of whom remain hospitalized.
Rescue teams evacuated around twenty residents from damaged buildings.
“The left bank of Kyiv is currently without electricity and water,” Klitschko wrote on social media early Friday, adding that engineers were working to restore supply to affected districts, including Holosiivskyi, Desnianskyi, Dniprovskyi, Darnytskyi, Podilskyi, and Sviatoshynskyi.
Ukraine’s Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk stated that Russian forces carried out a “massive strike” on key energy facilities overnight, adding that engineers were taking “all necessary measures to minimize the consequences” and had begun damage assessments and repair work.
“Energy workers are doing everything possible to stabilize the grid and restore supplies,” Hrynchuk wrote on Facebook.
Significant damage was sustained in the Sumy, Poltava, and Kharkiv regions, where emergency power cuts were introduced and the grid remains fragile after months of Russian bombardments.
In Zaporizhzhia, a child was killed in an overnight strike, regional governor Ivan Fedorov reported.
In Cherkasy, Russian missiles hit critical infrastructure, forcing the closure of traffic across a local hydroelectric dam, according to Ihor Taburets, head of the regional administration.
Russian forces have increasingly relied on drones, ballistic and cruise missiles, glide bombs and multiple-launch rocket systems to target Ukraine’s civilian and energy infrastructure.
