Scottish Fan Walks 1,600 km in 41 Days to Reach the European Football Championship

Craig Ferguson, a 20-year-old football fan from Scotland, decided to reach Germany for Euro 2024 in a rather unconventional way. Instead of buying a plane ticket or driving, the Scotland national team supporter embarked on a 41-day walk from Glasgow to Munich, according to Football of Scotland.
The Scottish supporter arrived in the German capital just one day before the tournament's opening match featuring his national team and the host nation. Ferguson’s trek was a charitable endeavour aimed at raising funds for the men's mental health charity "Brothers in Arms". As a result of his efforts, he managed to raise £51,000.
At the final point of his journey, the Scottish fan was greeted by a jubilant crowd of supporters, including friends who had also come to Germany for Euro 2024. Upon reaching the finish line, Ferguson fell to his knees, triumphantly raising his arms before being embraced and handed a well-deserved bottle of beer.
"I think this is officially my 15 minutes of fame because it’s incredible. Honestly, a huge thank you to everyone who showed up because this support means more to me than I could have hoped for," Craig Ferguson shared emotionally.
Notably, the opening match of Euro 2024, Germany vs. Scotland, is set to take place today in Munich at the Allianz Arena, starting at 21:00 local time.
Earlier, The Gaze reported that German police may conduct temporary checks at all German borders during the Euro 2024 football tournament. Additionally, around 580 police officers from other countries will join German law enforcement to patrol the host cities, train stations, and trains.
