Sweden Provides Ukraine with $1.6 Billion Military Aid Package

Sweden will provide Ukraine with a new package of military aid worth 16 billion kronor ($1.6 billion), which will be the largest since the Russian invasion in 2022.
This was announced by Swedish Defence Minister Pal Jonson on social media platform X.
He told reporters that Sweden wants to ‘make it clear that we are strengthening our support, increasing its strength and scale’.
According to Jonson, the package includes aid for Ukraine's air defence, artillery, satellite communications and maritime capabilities.
According to government figures, 9 billion kronor of the package will go to the purchase of materials, ‘mainly from the Swedish, but also European defence industrial base’, according to ‘Ukrainian needs’.
More than 5 billion kronor will be provided through various multilateral initiatives, including the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (UDCG).
About half a billion kronor will be donated from the Swedish Armed Forces' existing stockpiles.
This package will be the 19th tranche of Swedish military assistance to Ukraine, and the total amount of support provided, according to government estimates, will reach 80 billion kronor.
The Swedish government has also instructed the Armed Forces to make payments to coalition forces in the areas of demining and unmanned aerial vehicles under the Ramstein format. This support in the amount of SEK 80 million (EUR 7.2 million) is part of the 18th military assistance package to Ukraine.
As The Gaze previously reported, on 13 March, Sweden announced the transfer of 18 Archer self-propelled artillery systems and five Arthur radars to Ukraine as part of its military assistance.
