Taylor Swift has become the first artist to become a billionaire solely thanks to her music, Forbes magazine writes. The popular 34-year-old American singer is currently worth $1.1 billion (about €875 million) thanks to the proceeds from her The Eras Tour and the value of her music catalogue.

In particular, more than $500 million of Swift's wealth comes from music and touring fees. She earned approximately $190 million after tax on the first leg of the Eras Tour and another $35 million in the first two weeks of the concert film Taylor Swift: The Era Tour," which became the highest-grossing concert film in history. .

With her wealth, the star singer took 2545th place in the Forbes world billionaires list.

According to Forbes, there are more billionaires than ever - 141 more than last year and 26 more than in 2021.  Their combined wealth reaches $14.2 trillion.

On 19 April, the pop star will release her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, which will also add to her huge profits. Swift announced the new album during her acceptance speech for the Album of the Year award at the Grammy 2024 ceremony in February.

As a billionaire, Taylor Swift has had a significant impact on the NFL. According to Apex Marketing Group, Swift has created brand value equivalent to $331.5 million for the Chiefs and the league. This figure is derived from print, digital, radio, television, highlights and social media mentions of Swift from her first game on 24 September to 22 January.

Also, one of Swift's many achievements over the past year is that she was named Time magazine's Person of the Year 2023. In her interview with journalist Sam Lansky, Swift told the magazine that "this is the happiest moment" she has ever experienced.

As The Gaze previously reported, the European Commission has called on Taylor Swift to help mobilise young people in the European Parliament elections during her European tour.
