Tour of All Time: Taylor Swift Earns Record $2 Billion for Her Eras Tour
On 8 December in Vancouver, the American pop singer Taylor Swift wrapped up her almost two-year-long Eras tour, which became the most successful commercial tour of all time, raising more than $2 billion in ticket sales, The Guardian reports.
The singer's company Taylor Swift Touring has confirmed the final amount of ticket revenue: $2,077,618,725.
During the tour, Swift gave 149 concerts, she performed songs from all her albums, and one concert lasted more than three and a half hours. In addition, during the tour, she created a new studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, which was released in April.
Tickets averaged $204 for each concert throughout the tour. Demand for them was so high that when they went on sale in November 2022, the Ticketmaster system crashed as 3.5 billion requests were made.
Swift's concert in Melbourne was attended by the most people - 96,006 people.
London's Wembley Stadium attracted the most fans: 753,112 people attended eight concerts.
The figure of more than $2 billion does not take into account the significant revenue from the sale of souvenirs, as huge stores were opened outside the concert venues selling hoodies, bracelets, and more.
The concert film about the tour, released in October 2023, grossed $261 million at the box office, a record for this type of film that eclipsed the $99 million earned by Justin Bieber's Never Say Never in 2011.
The Eras tour broke the record set by Elton John's five-year Farewell Yellow Brick Road farewell tour, which grossed $939 million with 328 shows.
Meanwhile, Coldplay's Music of the Spheres tour has already surpassed the $1 billion mark. Their concerts will last until mid-2025, and the musicians will be able to compete with Swift.
