Trump Reveals Some Details of Peace Talks in Riyadh

US President Donald Trump said that the talks between the US, Ukraine and Russia in Saudi Arabia raised the issues of the demarcation line and the ownership of a nuclear power plant. He told reporters during a meeting of his cabinet on 24 March, Deutsche Welle reports.
During his talks with Russia, Trump was asked whether the US was raising the issue of the return of illegally deported children from the occupied territories of Ukraine. He replied that ‘this is one of the things we are talking about’, but noted that ‘no decisions have been made yet’.
The US President added that the issues of territories, demarcation lines, energy and ownership of power plants are currently being discussed.
Trump also noted that ‘some people say that the United States should own the power plant... because we have the experience’.
Although this time Trump did not specify which power plant he was referring to, he had previously acknowledged that Washington was interested in the issue of American ownership of Zaporizhzhia NPP. The plant itself has been under Russian occupation since March 2022.
Last week, the US said that during a conversation between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump on 19 March, the issue of Ukrainian nuclear power plants and their possible management by the US was raised. Zelenskyy denied, however, that the issue of nuclear power plant ownership was the subject of negotiations with the US president.
The Gaze reported that since 23 March, peace talks have been held in Saudi Arabia, with Ukrainian and Russian delegations participating in them under US mediation. On Sunday, the Ukrainian delegation met with the American delegation, and on Monday, the Russian delegation met with the American delegation.
According to AFP, a new meeting of the Ukrainian and American teams on the truce between Kyiv and Moscow is taking place in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, 25 March.
