UK to Provide Ukraine with a £225 Million Defence Package to Bolster Air Defences and Naval Forces
The United Kingdom is to give Ukraine a £225 million ($286 million) military aid package, including to strengthen its navy and air defence, Reuters reports.
‘The brave people of Ukraine continue to defy all expectations with their indomitable spirit. But they cannot do it alone, so the UK will strengthen our international leadership on Ukraine throughout 2025,’ UK Defence Secretary John Healey said in this regard.
It is noted that the package for Ukraine will consist of several parts. In particular, £92 million is allocated for equipment for the Navy, including small boats, reconnaissance UAVs, surface drones, unmanned munitions, etc.
Some £68 million will be spent on strengthening Ukraine's air defence, including radars, decoy ground models and electronic drone warfare systems.
Another £26 million is allocated for maintenance and spare parts for systems previously supplied to Ukraine. In addition, £39 million will be spent on providing more than 1,000 drone-based air defence systems, as well as on the joint procurement of respirators and equipment to enhance the defence capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
