October 2025 was a record month for Ukraine in terms of the number of Russian missile attacks as Russia launched 270 missiles, the highest number since early 2023.

The Gaze reports on it, referring to Deutsche Welle.

According to AFP calculations based on daily reports from the Ukrainian Air Force, the volume of Russian missile attacks in October increased by 46% compared to September. Russian troops used various types of missiles, including Iskander-M ballistic complexes and Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that 132 missiles were shot down or neutralized, making up almost half of the total number launched.

In addition to missile strikes, Russia actively used attack drones, launching more than 5,000 drones over Ukraine in October. Although this figure is 6% lower than in September, the scale of the attacks remains extremely large.

The largest number of Russian drones in the entire war was recorded in July 2025 at over 6,000 units.

Aviation expert Valeriy Romanenko noted that in October alone, Russia launched 101 ballistic missiles — five times more than in the previous month. Specifically, this includes 87 Iskander-M missiles and 14 Kinzhal missiles. According to the expert, ballistic and aeroballistic missiles remain the most difficult to intercept.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also reported that the Russians used nearly 1,500 strike drones, 1,170 guided aerial bombs, and more than 70 missiles of various types to strike Ukraine this week alone, hitting ordinary residential buildings, civilian infrastructure, and energy facilities.

“It is clear that Moscow wants to harm our people first and foremost. That is why we are working actively to ensure reliable support for our energy sector this winter,” he wrote on Facebook, adding that there are already substantive agreements with our partners on supporting the Ukrainian energy sector.

As The Gaze previously reported, on October 29, Russian troops launched an attack on a hospital in Kherson, resulting in casualties among children and medical staff.
