Ukraine Receives New Batch of Military Aid from Estonia
Ukraine has received a new package of military assistance from Estonia, according to the Ministry of Defence of the Baltic nation. The aid includes Javelin anti-tank missiles, machine guns, ammunition for small arms, various ground and water vehicles, as well as diving equipment.
Specific details, such as the quantity of weaponry, arrival time, and location, are not disclosed for security reasons.
"I am pleased that another aid package has reached Ukraine, and Ukrainian defenders are making use of it. Recent events in Europe demonstrate that the delivery of rockets, shells, and other military assistance to Ukraine continues on a large scale. This time, along with our allies, we are sending a clear message to the Kremlin that we will continue to support Ukraine until it prevails," stated Estonian Minister of Defence Hanno Pevkur.
Since 2022, Estonia has provided Ukraine with military aid amounting to approximately 500 million euros, constituting around 1.4% of its gross domestic product. The assistance includes Javelin anti-tank missiles, howitzers, artillery ammunition, anti-tank mines, grenade launchers, mortars, transportation vehicles, communication devices, field hospitals, medications, personal protective equipment, and dry rations.
"Ukraine has expressed deep gratitude for Estonia's support and affirmed its commitment to continue the fight until the aggressor is pushed beyond Ukraine's borders," said Kusti Salm, the spokesperson for the Estonian Ministry of Defence, during a visit to Kyiv at the end of January.
The Gaze reported that Estonian President Alar Karis announced his country's commitment to providing Ukraine with a long-term military aid package worth 1.2 billion euros until 2027. President Karis emphasized the necessity of supplying Ukraine with appropriate weaponry during a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. President Karis also highlighted Estonia's specific plans for Ukraine's recovery, proposing the fair utilization of frozen Russian funds.
