Ukraine has launched the Chapter Ukraine digital platform, which collects and presents Ukrainian books translated into foreign languages.

The Gaze reports on it, referring to the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine.

The Chapter Ukraine platform provides comprehensive information about books translated into foreign languages, including English, German, and Spanish.

It allows users to view selections of translations developed by experts according to clear criteria: professional translation, availability of print runs, reviews on international platforms, and critical reviews in the media.

The project was implemented by Craft Media and Chytomo in partnership with Snig.digital, Kavi.Agency, PEN Ukraine, and the Ukrainian Book Institute.

“We and our partners combined our experience in creating digital cultural projects, advocating Ukrainian culture, and expertise in book publishing to implement Chapter Ukraine as an open platform for anyone who wants to introduce the world to Ukrainian literature,” commented the co-curator of the project and author of the Chapter Ukraine web service, Kateryna Kazimirova.

The platform contains detailed information about publishers, translators, distributors, awards, and reviews, and also provides a function for creating personal lists of books to order or send to libraries and bookstores.

The project's initiators are also launching an advocacy campaign to promote Ukrainian books abroad. Volunteers receive step-by-step instructions on how to establish contacts with libraries and bookstores and encourage them to include Ukrainian translations in their collections.

Every reader can become an ambassador for Ukrainian literature by creating selections of their favorite books and recommending them to foreign libraries and bookstores.

As The Gaze reported earlier, Russia’s full-scale invasion has damaged or destroyed at least 770 libraries across Ukraine.
