Ukraine Wins Five Medals at European Youth Olympics Festival for First Time in History

The Ukrainian national team has finished competing at the European Youth Olympics Festival in Bakuriani, Georgia. According to the results of the competition, Ukrainian athletes won five awards, which is a record for Ukraine at these competitions.

The team consisted of 50 athletes who competed in seven sports: biathlon, cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, figure skating, hockey and short track.
The Ukrainian team won three gold and two bronze medals.
In short track speed skating, Maria Khokhelko won the 1000 metres race and, in addition to gold, also won two bronze medals at the European Youth Olympics Festival in the 500 and 1500 metres.
Another gold medal was won by biathletes in the single mixed relay - Viktoriia Khvostenko and Taras Tarasiuk outperformed rivals from the Czech Republic and Switzerland.
Figure skater Yegor Kurtzev brought Ukraine its third victory. He scored 130.15 points and became the 2025 EYOF champion in the boys' competition, outperforming his nearest competitor by 10.53 points.

This year's Ukrainian national team set a historical record by winning more than three medals at the Winter EYOF for the first time. In addition, thanks to the performance of Mariia Khokhelko, the team won awards in short track for the first time.
