Ukrainian Agriculture Eyes US Market as Alternative to Russian and Chinese Products

Ukraine is strengthening its agricultural partnership with the United States by discussing new opportunities for product exports and cooperation in agriculture.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection.
Serhiy Tkachuk, Head of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, has completed a working trip to the United States, during which he met with three departments of the US Department of Agriculture: FAS, FSIS, and APHIS.
The main topics of discussion were increasing bilateral trade in agricultural products, opening the US market to Ukrainian poultry, eggs, meat, pork, beef, corn, and queen bees, as well as ensuring food safety and conducting appropriate inspections.
“Ukraine has the potential to replace Russian and Chinese products on the US market. Separately, we focused on the priority of opening the US market to Ukrainian poultry and eggs,” the statement said.
The Ukrainian side confirmed its readiness to provide the necessary data, participate in virtual inspections, and move forward with technical consultations.
American colleagues, in turn, noted Ukraine's progress and confirmed their readiness for further consultations and consideration of applications for Ukrainian products to enter the US market.
Serhiy Tkachuk emphasized that even in wartime, the Ukrainian agricultural sector remains a reliable and promising partner.
“We feel the support of our American colleagues and their willingness to move forward in opening up new opportunities for Ukraine,” he added.
