Ukrainian Ambassador: Ukrainians in Poland Intend to Go Back Once Safe

The Ukrainian ambassador to Poland, Vasyl Bodnar, said that many Ukrainian refugees in Poland plan to return home after the war, provided that the right conditions are in place.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to Unian, citing Radio Svoboda.
It is reported that a significant number of Ukrainian refugees currently residing in Poland intend to return to Ukraine if conditions allow after the war ends.
According to the ambassador, the return of Ukrainians from Poland to their homeland depends on the creation of appropriate conditions in Ukraine and their personal decision.
“If you talk to refugees, to people who left not voluntarily but under duress, 70% of them will say they want to return,” the ambassador noted.
He also stated that 15-20% of Ukrainians living in Poland are convinced that they will remain there and may have already applied for Polish citizenship.
“But the majority say: if the war ends tomorrow, we will go home,” Bodnar emphasized.
The Gaze previously informed that Poland plans to gradually close most refugee shelters for Ukrainians, limiting access to vulnerable groups such as pensioners, pregnant women, and people with disabilities, as the government shifts its support policies.
