Two Ukrainians Named Among Canada’s Top Immigrants of 2025

Two Ukrainians – Svitlana Kominko and Andriyan Makhnachov – have been recognized among this year’s Top 25 Canadian Immigrants, a prestigious national award that highlights the contributions of newcomers who are making a difference in Canadian society.
The Gaze reports this, referring to Canadian Migrants.
The annual award celebrates individuals from across the world who have excelled in fields such as culture, education, business, community service, and philanthropy. Winners are chosen through a combination of public voting and expert evaluation.
Svitlana Kominko, who arrived in Canada in 2003, co-founded the Maple Hope Foundation following Ukraine’s 2014 Revolution of Dignity.
The Vancouver-based organization has since delivered dozens of humanitarian projects in support of Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees in Canada.
According to official figures, the foundation has provided aid worth more than 32 million Canadian dollars to Ukraine.
Andriyan Makhnachov moved to Canada after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
Since then, he has become a popular social media influencer, producing witty and informative videos about life on a different continent.
His online presence has helped bring greater visibility to the experiences of Ukrainian newcomers adapting to life in Canada.
All 25 award recipients were honored at a formal ceremony held in Toronto earlier this month.
Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war in Ukraine, around 300,000 Ukrainians have arrived in Canada, making Ukrainian newcomers one of the fastest-growing immigrant communities in the country.
