During the meeting in Paris, Shmyhal expressed gratitude to French companies that continue operating in Ukraine and those that chose to exit the Russian market.
He praised France's pivotal role in supporting Ukraine’s infrastructure recovery, noting that the French government has extended €1.2 billion in state-backed guarantees for investment projects in Ukraine.
The Prime Minister also acknowledged a recent grant agreement providing €200 million toward the restoration of critical infrastructure and priority economic sectors, calling it a vital contribution to Ukraine’s resilience.
“Despite all the challenges of the war, Ukraine is demonstrating a confident economic recovery and a pro-European course,” Shmyhal stated. He emphasized the government’s continued reform efforts and initiatives aimed at fostering a dynamic business environment, including tax incentives, industrial parks, and compensation for network connection costs.
Highlighting key sectors for future cooperation, Shmyhal pointed to defense, energy, transport and logistics, construction, agriculture, IT, mechanical engineering, and the extraction and processing of critical raw materials. He placed particular emphasis on joint ventures in the defense industry, which he described as essential for co-developing cutting-edge solutions in the security domain.
The Paris visit follows Shmyhal’s earlier meeting with a bipartisan U.S. Senate delegation, where discussions focused on expanding sanctions against Russia and deepening transatlantic cooperation.
