Ukrainian — the Language of the Free: Digital Platform Strichka Launches Global Campaign to Promote Ukrainian Language Abroad

On the occasion of the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language, which will be celebrated on 27 October 2024, Strichka, a digital platform for Ukrainians abroad, has launched a global campaign ‘Ukrainian is the language of the free’ aimed at promoting the Ukrainian language, Chytomo reports.
Participants will receive points for completing tasks, and the most active of them will have a chance to win special prizes, including handmade embroidered shirts and memorable gifts. The winners will also receive letters of appreciation from the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine.
Strichka encourages everyone to join the quests, which include tasks such as telling stories about their favourite Ukrainian words, reciting texts, creating memes, singing Ukrainian songs, and teaching foreigners the basics of the Ukrainian language.
According to Olga Chibisova, Strichka's executive director, the Ukrainian word has a unique ability to unite compatriots, regardless of distance, and symbolises home for those living abroad.
Ukrainians from all over the world, including Italy, Germany, France, Switzerland, Poland, the United States and Canada, joined Strichka's previous initiative ‘Ukraine's Time Has Come!’ aimed at strengthening Ukraine's diplomatic path to the EU.
The Ukrainian is the Language of the Free campaign will run until 11 November.
The Strichka project was announced in May by Dmytro Sholomko, who previously headed Google's representative office for the past 17 years, on the day the company launched in Ukraine. This is a mobile application that will help Ukrainians abroad coordinate global actions in support of Ukraine.
The former Google Ukraine director said that his newly created startup Strichka is ‘people's diplomacy that brings benefits’.
