UN: Crimes Against Children Rise in Ukraine

The United Nations has recorded an increase in crimes against Ukrainian children, according to the annual report by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, “Children and Armed Conflict.”
The Gaze reports on this with reference to FREEDOM.
The document notes a significant increase in the number of gross violations of children's rights in areas of armed conflict in 2024-2025. According to the UN, the increase in crimes against children in Ukraine was 105% compared to the previous period.
The UN Secretary-General said he was concerned about the sharp increase in gross violations of children's rights in Ukraine, including killings and maimings of children, as well as attacks on schools and hospitals.
In 2024-2025, the UN documented the killings of 94 children and the wounding of 577. Responsibility for this is attributed to the Russian armed forces and associated groups.
There were also 559 attacks on schools and 303 on hospitals.
In addition, the document confirms that many Ukrainian children who were taken to Russia have not yet been found.
As The Gaze reported earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Secretary General of the Council of Europe Alain Berset signed an agreement on Thursday to establish a Special Tribunal to investigate crimes of aggression against Ukraine.
