US Announces 71st Additional $725 Million Military Aid Package for Ukraine
The United States of America yesterday announced a new additional $725 million military assistance package for Ukraine to address Ukraine's critical security and defence needs. This announcement marks the 71st tranche of equipment that the Biden Administration will provide to Ukraine from the US Department of Defence stockpile starting in August 2021.
The additional package of assistance includes additional ammunition for HIMARS and artillery, Stinger missiles, drones, anti-personnel mines, anti-tank weapons, and more.
A detailed list of weapons is published on the Pentagon's website, including ammunition for NASAMS and HIMARS;
Stinger missiles;
anti-drone munitions (c-UAS);
155 mm and 105 mm artillery ammunition;
unmanned aerial systems (UAS);
Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems;
small arms and ammunition;
equipment for the protection of critical infrastructure;
spare parts, support equipment, services, training, and transport.
‘The United States will continue to work with approximately 50 Allies and partners through the Ukraine Defence Contact Group and related coalitions of opportunity to meet Ukraine's urgent needs on the battlefield and defend against Russian aggression,’ the Pentagon said.
