US President and Secretary of State Cancel Foreign Visits, Including to Germany's Ramstein, Due to Powerful Hurricane Milton
US President Joe Biden has postponed a trip to Germany and Angola in the wake of Hurricane Milton, which is set to hit Florida in the near future, White House spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre said.
According to her, Biden is postponing his planned trips to Germany and Angola ‘given the projected trajectory and strength of Hurricane Milton.
President Biden will remain in the United States to ‘oversee preparations for and response to Hurricane Milton’ and to monitor ongoing Hurricane Helene relief efforts in the southeast of the country.
Also, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken postponed a trip to Ramstein, Germany, where a meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group was to take place, due to Hurricane Milton, which is expected to hit Florida, State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said.
