US President to Visit Germany for the First Time in 39 Years and Convene 'European Four' on Ukraine Aid
During his visit to Berlin this week, US President Joe Biden plans to meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to discuss further aid for Ukraine.
CNN reported, citing three Western officials familiar with the matter.
The four countries are Ukraine's main arms suppliers. The participants will consider future military support for Kyiv.
The four leaders were scheduled to meet last week with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at Ramstein Air Force Base, but the meeting was postponed as President Biden postponed all his foreign travel due to Hurricane Milton, which is approaching the southeastern US state of Florida.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy embarked on a tour of European capitals last week to present Ukraine's Victory Plan to leaders. He visited London, Paris, and Rome, and ended his tour in Berlin with talks with Scholz. As a result of the talks, the German chancellor promised to allocate an additional €1.4 billion in aid to Ukraine.
