US President Trump: ‘One Way or Another, We Are Gonna Get Greenland’

US President Donald Trump has reiterated his interest in acquiring Greenland, outlining the future of prosperity and security for the ‘incredible people’ of the island, which is an autonomous territory of Denmark.
In his address to the US Congress on Tuesday, the US leader expressed confidence in the possibility of acquiring Greenland. ‘"I think we're going to get it (Greenland - ed.), one way or the other, we're gonna get it,' he said, according to Reuters.
Trump also addressed the islanders. ‘We strongly support your right to determine your own future, and if you choose, we welcome you to the United States of America,’ he said.
The President emphasised that Greenland's accession to the United States is important for international security. ‘We really need this for international global security. We will protect you, we will make you wealthy, and together we will take Greenland to heights you never thought possible before. It's a very small population, a very, very large piece of land, and very, very important for military security,’ Trump said.
He also said that his administration was in talks with all parties to find a way to implement the plan.
The White House published an article on how politicians, government officials and journalists reacted to Trump's speech.
Even before the start of his second presidential term, Trump expressed hope that Greenland would be incorporated into the United States, although the Danish authorities insist that the island is not for sale.
As The Gaze reported, in early February, Greenland's parliament passed a law that, among other things, prohibits political parties in the country from accepting anonymous and foreign contributions. The bill was urgently considered three days after US President Donald Trump expressed his desire for the United States to take possession of mineral-rich Greenland.
