US, Ukraine, and Europe Discuss Ukraine’s EU Accession, Says European Commission

The European Commission has confirmed that during talks in Washington, Zelenskyy and European leaders discussed Ukraine's prospects for EU membership with Donald Trump.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to Ukrinform.
"Indeed, European leaders discussed the possibility of enlargement (of the EU - ed.) with President Trump and President Zelenskyy on Monday in Washington. European leaders, of course, emphasized the relevance of the accession process for Ukraine," said European Commission spokeswoman Arianna Podesta, stressing that this is also important in the context of discussions on security guarantees.
Regarding information about Trump's telephone conversation with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, during which, according to media reports, the American leader allegedly inquired about the reasons for blocking Ukraine's accession negotiations, the European Commission spokeswoman noted that such information should be clarified with the participants themselves.
At the same time, Podesta stressed that only Ukraine, as a sovereign state, determines its path to the EU, and EU member states must assess whether all the necessary conditions for accession have been met.
It is reported that the European Commission has submitted a proposal to the EU Council on the advisability of starting negotiations with Ukraine on the first cluster.
“In our opinion, it is important that member states allow these negotiations to begin in the near future. We will continue to discuss this issue with them,” Podesta said.
As The Gaze informed earlier, the European Commission has agreed to grant Ukraine access to the Roam like at Home policy, which will allow Ukrainians to use mobile communications in the EU without additional costs.
